Graduate Architecture (San Diego)

The San Diego campus of Woodbury University School of Architecture offers two one-year post-professional degree options :
_ a Master of Science in Architecture for students with a pre-professional degree in architecture, urbanism, or landscape architecture, and
_ a Master of Real Estate and Development for Architects for students with a professional degree in architecture.

Master of Science in Architecture

The Master of Science in Architecture at Woodbury University (San Diego) is a program born of the unique spatial juxtapositions inherent to the area’s international cultural and territorial collisions.  Instruction within it provides a focus in catalytic design for geographies challenged by pressures of difference and flux.  While the discipline of architecture re-assesses its critical stance towards these new standards in urban environments, Woodbury University emphasizes the global challenges emerging in developing and developed countries as they consolidate towards a critical mass.  The goal of study, then, is to produce a body of architects capable of addressing, through both field and form, the characteristic dilemmas of contemporary society’s extreme habitat scenarios of excess and scarcity.

Master of Real Estate and Development for Architects

Architect builders envision and make the projects normal developers will not touch.  Architects come from a particular discipline with interests augmented by planning objectives and a love of buildings.  Architects are trained to innovate, but innovation makes projects more difficult to accomplish.  Innovation, densification, and architecture with a capital “A” add to the urban fabric.  And, although they will only exist outside the development main stream, these projects elevate lives and make extraordinary places.  It is with these objectives and sentiments that Woodbury University operates a special program to teach architects the art and craft of building development.
